Bicycle Clock

The Bicycle Clock is hung between two supports that are 15 feet apart.  Time is derived from a synchronous motor driving 54 bicycle sprockets and 27 bicycle chains.  Nine shafts are suspended between the two supports.  Bicycle foot pedals mounted on one of the shafts serves as the second hand.  On another shaft, there are mounted two bicycle wheels.  A red reflector mounted on a spoke of the larger wheel serves as the minute hand, and a red reflector mounted on a spoke of the smaller wheel serves as the hour hand.  The time shown in the top picture is ten till eight.

The Bicycle Clock's attributes include:  skeleton clock, functional art, kinetic sculpture, novel idea, contemporary design, visionary art, and patented invention..
